Bide METrics — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-18
Bide METrics is built on one rule: your health data never leaves your device.
The short version
- Bide METrics has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- Bide METrics never makes a network request. There is nothing in the app capable of sending data anywhere. (The only outbound links are the research and privacy-policy links in Settings, which open in your browser.)
- Everything the app reads from Health, computes, and caches stays in local storage on your device.
- If you delete Bide METrics, its cached data is deleted with it.
What Bide METrics reads from Health
With your permission, Bide METrics reads the following, only to compute and display your weekly MET-hours:
- Workouts — your recorded workouts, their energy, and their duration: the basis of the MET-hour calculation and the per-activity breakdown
- Active energy burned — read from each workout (this is the energy figure attached to a workout, not your all-day Move total)
- Body mass — to convert kilocalories into MET-hours (MET·h = kcal ÷ kg + workout hours)
Bide METrics never writes anything back to Health — it only reads. You control each of these individually in the Health app under Sharing → Apps → Bide METrics. If you revoke access, the corresponding data simply stops updating.
What Bide METrics stores, and where
| What | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly MET-hour history | On-device database (SwiftData), excluded from iCloud/device backups | So charts load instantly instead of re-querying Health on every launch; health-derived data is deliberately kept out of backups |
| Latest dashboard values, activity breakdowns | On-device files, excluded from iCloud/device backups | Instant launch; same backup exclusion as above |
| Your preferences (target, appearance, units) | On-device UserDefaults |
To remember your settings — these contain no health data |
None of this is reachable from outside your device.
Third parties
There are none. Bide METrics has no third-party dependencies of any kind. The only frameworks it uses are Apple's own (HealthKit, SwiftUI, SwiftData, Swift Charts).
Children's privacy
Bide METrics collects no data from anyone, of any age: it never transmits anything anywhere. It is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If Bide METrics' data practices ever change, this document will be updated and the in-app version number will reflect the change.
